ABOUT THE MOTET: Denver-based funk & soul ensemble The Motet kick off 2021 with the release of “And the Beat Goes On,” the announcement of their first shows back, and the promise of more new music coming soon. On the new release, The Motet — Dave Watts [drums], Joey Porter [keys], Garrett Sayers [bass], Ryan Jalbert [guitar], and Drew Sayers [keys/saxophone] – are joined on vocals by guest singer Nigel Hall (Lettuce) for a fresh take on The Whispers classic. The band reveals their plans for the upcoming months: “As we try to look towards better times, you may be wondering what is in store for The Motet. Well, we are writing an insane amount of new music. We are collaborating with some of our favorite artists. We continue looking for a singer to join us in forging this new chapter of the band. We think everyday about the chance to get on a stage in front of you once again!!” That chance arrives soon, with the announcement of socially distanced shows at Vilar Performing Arts Center on April 2 & 3.
The shows mark the band’s first return to the stage since the pandemic hit in March 2020, and are billed as The Motet: Instrumentals. The limited capacity instrumental performances promise to be a unique experience for Motet fans. Since 1998, The Motet have inspired the world with their unique style of dance music. Over the course of nine full-length albums, they’ve traversed the lines between funk, soul, jazz, and rock and built a diehard audience in the process. They’ve headlined Red Rocks Amphitheatre six times and soldout countless legendary venues coast-to-coast. In addition to racking up nearly 20 million total streams and views, they’ve also garnered widespread acclaim from numerous publications including Relix, Glide Magazine, and AXS. The band has also graced the stages of festivals such as Bonnaroo, Bottlerock, Electric Forest, Bumbershoot, Summer Camp, and High Sierra.
