CHOREOGRAPHERS’ NOTE:

The Company is incentivized towards perpetual growth.
The Company develops relationships with politicians and regulatory agencies, lobbying for legislative language that protects their constant growth.
The Company language is parroted until fabrication becomes fact.
The Company’s profit margins are built on theft: of natural resources, human labor, and life

You don’t make a billion dollars, you steal a billion dollars.

FULL PROGRAM

BODYTRAFFIC have achieved the rare feat of being chameleon-like and utterly, completely, themselves. Under the auspices of Lillian Rose Barbeito and Tina Finkelman Berkett, the company has conquered the contemporary dance world, with stunning performers, technical mastery, and a commitment to the most challenging repertoire. This mixed program includes some of their most celebrated performances — including SNAP, Micaela Taylor’s layered take on social pressure and urban diversity. BODYTRAFFIC’s ability to embody a multiplicity of choreographic languages in their own style defies easy categorization. Eclectic, virtuosic and unafraid to take on any dance language from hip hop to ballet, they are their own masterwork.

“It’s not everyday that, even before a company finished the first piece, I think: ‘And now I have a new company to love.’” – ADF Premiere, The Herald Sun, Susan Broili

“Drop gritty, contemporary New York and European choreographers into the fast-paced, freeway world of Los Angeles, sprinkle with energetic young talent, and you get the super-fast, super-sexy, super-expressive intensity of BODYTRAFFIC.” – Dance View Times

“…BODYTRAFFIC combines the simple with the smart, the thoughtful with the visceral, the difficult with the detailed, without missing a single step along the way.” – The Calgary Herald

“BODYTRAFFIC has attracted dancers who move seamlessly from impressive ballet technique through a range of equally demanding contemporary moves, abilities that draw major national and international choreographers to create on the company.” – LA Weekly

This evening’s performance is generously supported by Dance Series Underwriter: The Scrooby Foundation.
