Trinity Irish Dance Company

Called “Sophisticated and commanding” by the Los Angeles Times and “impossibly complex” by The New York Times, the Trinity Irish Dance Company (TIDC) brings their trailblazing legacy and genre-defying innovation to Beaver Creek.

Celebrating 35 years, TIDC has significantly changed the direction and scope of Irish dance, consistently evolving the form in an integrity-filled way. Led by Artistic Directors Mark Howard and Denver-native Chelsea Hoy, this Chicago-based, international touring company celebrates Howard’s unique vision to fuse vibrant Irish traditions with ever-evolving American innovation.

Fresh off their historic debut at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival and their fifth run at New York’s Joyce Theater, TIDC celebrates their internationally-renowned blend of percussive power and aerial grace with a mixed program showcasing the range of TIDC’s groundbreaking repertoire, featuring international artists, and original live music performed by TIDC’s band, fronted by Killarney-raised, New York-based Brenoshea. Colorado premieres will include the critically-acclaimed SÉseacht choreographed by renowed tap choreographer Michelle Dorrance in collaboration with the dancers, and The Sash, choreographed by Mark Howard, Chelsea Hoy, and Stephanie Martinez, among many others.

Trinity Irish Dance (TIDC) has significantly changed the direction and scope of Irish dance, re-introducing the art form as the phenomenon it is today. Founded in 1990, this innovative company was created to celebrate the pioneering work of Founding Artistic Director Mark Howard. Howard’s uniquely Irish-American company was the birthplace of progressive Irish dance, an innovative movement genre which “ushered in a new era for Irish step dance” (Chicago Tribune), opening new avenues of artistic freedom that led directly to commercial productions such as “Riverdance.”

By using Irish dance as an instrument and a metaphor, TIDC redefines the medium with passion, flair, and precision.
