North Mississippi Allstars

North Mississippi Allstars (NMA) was founded by brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson in 1996, inspired by their father, Jim Dickinson, and Mississippi blues legends including R.L. Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, Otha Turner, and Fred McDowell. After Luther toured with R.L. Burnside in 1997, NMA hit the road in 1998 and has been touring ever since. Over the years, the band’s lineup has featured members of the Burnside family, Chris Chew, Berry Oakley Jr., Oteil Burbridge, and currently Joey Williams of the Blind Boys of Alabama and guitarist Ray Ray Hollowman. Since releasing their debut album in 2000, NMA has shared the stage with artists including Robert Plant, Mavis Staples, the Allman Brothers, The Black Crowes, Buddy Guy, and Phil Lesh. Their distinctive “Modern Mississippi Music” has earned the band multiple Grammy nominations while carrying the traditions of North Mississippi music forward.
